OV6. DATA STORAGE AND TRANSFER
PERIPHERALS
Data storage and transfer peripherals are
categorized into two groups:
On-Site peripherals include storage modules,
laptop or desktop computers, displays, and
printers.
Storage modules store data for later retrieval
and can operate in an unattended mode. They
provide an independent back-up of datalogger
data and supplement the internal data storage
capacity of the datalogger.
Computers, displays, and printers typically
require attended operation and may require ac
power and/or a temperature-controlled
environment to function.
Telecommunications peripherals allow
interrogation of a datalogger from a remote
computer. Examples include short haul,
multidrop, telephone, radio, and satellite
communication.
Combinations of on-site and
telecommunications options can be used in the
same application for maximum flexibility, con-
venience, and reliability.
